I'm not sure of the source behind this rumor, but I'm not the one
that contacted the Columbus folks about workshop space for
Perl 6/Parrot. I think they have me confused with particle++ .

The Columbus organizers contacted the ParF board to ask if we wanted to do a Parrot workshop again this year. Given the fact that only around half the Parrot developers have any connection to Perl, and only around half of those are based in the US, YAPC::NA really isn't a good option for Parrot. Last year, a number of people who should have been involved in discussions that happened at YAPC::NA were left out.

We replied and suggested a Rakudo workshop instead. It would of course include some Parrot-related content (as a tool used in building Rakudo), but the focus is on Perl, as it should be at a Perl conference.
