Hi all, The team that maintains the Debian parrot packages has been inactive since 2014. I'm happy to pick up the task of maintaining those packages again, but wanted to check first: is distribution through the Debian distro (and derivatives such as Ubuntu) still valuable to the Parrot developers?
Thanks, Allison -------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: plans for parrot packaging Date: Sun, 10 Jul 2016 04:08:28 -0400 From: Allison Randal <alli...@lohutok.net> To: pkg-parrot-de...@lists.alioth.debian.org Hi all, It looks like it's been a while since the parrot packages were uploaded. AFAICT, the last upload corresponds pretty closely to the last time the rakudo packages depended on parrot, so I'm guessing that the pkg-parrot team was primarily motivated by supporting Rakudo. Is anyone here still interested in packaging work on parrot? How much usage are the parrot packages getting? New upstream releases are continuing, the most recent upstream release is 8.1.0, while the package version in unstable is 6.6.0. I'm happy to pick up the task of maintaining the parrot package again, but I'm also wondering if we should consider removing it from Debian? I'll also ask the upstream dev team what they think. Thanks for any thoughts, Allison _______________________________________________ http://lists.parrot.org/mailman/listinfo/parrot-dev
