You boot from one drive, then add two other virtual drives for the
raid.  Since the vm can't boot from the raid, you need the first drive
to boot, then dmraid can access the two other drives.  You can use
dmraid itself to create an isw raid array out of the two virtual disks.

Thanks for the tip. I will try it out and report back with the results. Previously I'd created dmraid arrays using the BIOS, and did not know you could use dmraid itself.
