Open letter to Mr Nelson Mandela We have always respected and regarded you as the most unselfish and modest man, however the political developments regarding name changes has for the last fifteen years proven us wrong. We therefore formally wish to withdraw the honour and respect we have always bestowed on you. Firstly,at the time when you were suppose to dispay political maturity and modesty, you together with your fellow political lumpens that are still running government have failed to recognise and acknowledge contributions made by the other freedom fighters like Mangaliso Sobukwe, Zephania Mothopeng, Pokela, Phama, Onkogopotse Tiro,Tsietsi Mashinini, Anton Lembede,Masemola,Muntu Myeza,Dr Riberio to name but a few. Secondly, the process of renaming and honouring of heroes need not to be confined to Azania, but should go beyond the artificial colonialist borders to accommodate other fallen heroes who fought against colonialism, apartheid,Imperialism and neo-colonialism across the continent and the diaspora. Pan Africanist leaders like Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah, Marcus Garvey,Malcom X,Cheik Anta Diop, Lumumba,Dr du Bois, Nasser and many others deserve to be honoured by renaming monumental structures like, National Roads,Cities,Universities,Municipalities,Airports and Government buildings after them. White settlers in Azania also did name towns after people who never resided here like,King Williamstown,Port Elizabeth, etc. It seems Mr mandela is pleased and contend with the current situation where everything is named after him,and the othe freedom fighters being ignored as though they never existed. The ANC culture to elevate and heroworship an individual over and above the revolution itself is unrevolutionary and equivalent to personality cult. Your contribution has been overrated by the ANC and SA media to the detriment of other equally important revolutionaries. Revolutionaries worldwide are in agreement that the highest price to pay in a revolution is to sacrifice one's life. Many people who paid with their lifes have been forgotten and their families subjected to abject poverty. At some stage their efforts and sacrifices were insulted when somebody from the ruling party indicated that they did not join the struggle to benefit, whilst he and his family were enjoying the fruits of those sacrifices made by these matrys of our struggle for total independence. Your ANC government has ironically and unashamedly inherited the apartheid settler colonialist war and busy carrying it out. You are busy derecognising and writing-off history and significant names of freedom fighters and in the same vein and keeping and maintaining apartheid monuments, statues and town names of butcherous like Verwoerd, Brand, Jan Van Rieeubeeck,Harry Smith,Shepstone and others. When a proposal was first made by Pan Africanist in Ekurhuleni Municipality to rename Johannesburg Airport after Sobukwe,it was the ANC which vehemently opposed the suggestion albeit the support of the IFP. Three years later the ANC decided to name it OR Tambo International Airport. A proposal was again made by PASMA to rename Fort Hare after Sobukwe, this proposal was rejected by the cruel ANC fools, who are influenced by nothing else but colonial slave mentality. We were extremely exasperated by your decision to accept naming of University of Natal Medical School after you, when you have no relationship with the institution, infact you stole the honour and glory belonging to Steven Bantu Biko, the man who studied there and was involved in student politics and made significant contribution in the struggle of our emancipation. We expected you to rise above petty party differences and be humble enough to advice and pressure the institution to give honour to Steve Biko. Unfortunately your greed and arrogance could not allow you to do that and history would judge you harshly for that. The question that continue to boggle our minds is,what exactly the sin Sobukwe ,Biko,Mothopeng and others committed against you Old Man? it is very cruel and unjust for Sobukwe who was apartheid regine number one enermy and who suffered so much torture in the hands of the white settler regime to suffer the same torture of marginalisation in the hands of a government that claims to be free and that claim to be representing the interests of the african people. We believe you still have a chance to redeem yourself and knock sense into the heads of those lumpens that are in government to accommodate other freedom fighters. We have even taken a resolution not to honour or respect or observe any moment of silence for your birthday party as per Jacob Zuma's request until you and your comrades learn to honour and respect fallen heroes and heroines across party political divide. In respect to your bastardised national anthem,Nkosi sikelela/Die stem,it is a done deal, we don't respect it everytime it is sung,we just walk out. We can't insult Inoch Sontonga and our forefathers who crafted our only legitimate National Anthem Nkosi Sikelele iAfrika. It is quite amazing that you were prepared to go all out to appease and honour white settlers to the detriment of our people, but you refuse to do the same for those who liberated our belovered country,Azania. co-written by Kwame Ndebele PAYCO Secretary General Cel.0720682881 email.
