Cde Sibeko I've known Pitika since 1978 when the Swazi government locked up PAC leaders in the area and they were made victims of circumstances, with PK Leballo feeling threatened as Acting President. A friend and comrade, Matsemela Manaka, had links with Bicca Maseko's family in Mbabane and through them we sent solidarity messages to Pitika in prison. We became close friends ever since.
I'm still in touch with him and we sometimes discuss his themes in the SABC2 Weekend Live beforehand. He had his exhibition of sculptures at the UNISA Gallery in May. His work rate in the arts is high ever since he fell out with bureaucrats at UKZN, and set up a studio in Wynberg in Jozi. At some stage I'd like to profile Pitika the man and his theory of literature and art, and his commitment to Pan Africanism.
