We mourn the passing on of comrade TF. He indeed was larger and his
contribution to Afrika momentous. I too have seen TF at work and have shared
with him in debates and platforms. It was always evident that he had come all
the way through the ranks, picking valuable lessons and skills along. You could
never discern any manifest of short-cut or parachutte in his mannerism and
thought pattern. He is certainly a loss to the movement. He is a true PAC, he
gave his life, the largest part of his active life, to this organisation. As we
mourn his passing we also bow in respect and in gratitude for building and
bestowing unto us the monument of the PAC. This is just as much the case for
our great leaders as Theo Mabusela and Ntoele who are also no more. May their
soul rest in peace.

I must add that TF was very shrewed and might I also say street wise too. In
him you see why as boys they ruled the streets of Azania. The way he walked,
his dress code....a revolutionary pantsula. The way he will roast you in debate
and retreat into his laughter near hand covered to throw some humour to your
hammering. His choice of words to describe sell-outs you would laugh your lungs
off. Damn we will miss the comrade. Above all he is our leader and a great
servant of our liberation struggle.

I hope one day we will rise so we allot these comrades their national hero
status.

Afrika our land.

Matome Mashao

RIP to this tireless teacher. We would hold workshops/political classes almost
daily for years. He always had a political or ideological point to ponder or
reflect on. He did this with any person, anywhere. Whether its fellow
countrymen at a bus stop waiting for transport home or a visitor to office. TF
held political dialogues with everyone, given an opportunity. He also struck me
with his knowledge of various disciplines. He was never afraid to take a
different view and always continued to challenge any established position,
view, idea, political or ideological line if he had reason to. A very engaging
person. Most of the times he would reduce his ideas in writing and ask for your
opinion. One not afraid of debate because he had a solid political and
ideological grounding. He was also well read in revolutionary theory, various
political and history literature. He could hold his own. If you were to stand
against him on any issue, you needed to know your story very well. Because of
his firm grasp of historical and dialectic materialism, and shrewd use of the
tools in debate on the Robben Island, he tells me he was often accused of being
a marxist by his fellow Africanists. However in the past few years he took on a
pure African nationalist position which fell short of addressing the social and
class question. He continued debating these questions. A lot can be said about
this gallant son of the soil.
