Subject: [PAYCO] Pan Africanism and the National Question Political Workshop

To : PAC Members, Veterans, Shopstewards, Workers, Women, Youths and
Students

Pan Africanist Labour Forum (PALF), a component structure of the PAC hereby
inform and invite you to a political workshop which will deliberate on the
following topic:- Pan Africanism and the National Question.

Presentations will be made by Cde Thabo Ntoni, Cde Reuben Ramokgopa, Cde
Ntsie Mohloai, Cde Victor Serakalala.

There will be presentations and deliberations on the topic including
recommendations for a way-forward! As Mao urged that let a thousand schools
of thought flourish!

Party members and structures will be solidly unified through revolutionary
ideas further contextualised into a political programme focused on seizure
of state political power aiming at an establishment of an Africanist
Socialist Democracy. We urge and encourage all members and comrades to join
us as we shall be engaging in through constructive self criticism process
aiming to generate principled basis to guide PALF and the PAC to generate a
forward movement programme. We hope the political workshop will also cover
concrete issues that can be used for mass mobilisation and campaigning.

The political workshop will be held as follows:-

.. Venue : Johannesburg Civic Centre, opposite Johannesburg Theatre

.. Place : Braamfontein, Johannesburg

.. Time : 10h00 - 15h00

The political workshop follows the PALF meeting held on the 17th February
2013 debate centred on what constitutes the motive force for the advancement
of the Pan Africanist agenda summed as the Establishment of an Africanist
Socialist Democracy, Africa remains under-developed with the neo-colonial
governments across the African continent and capitalism having a
stranglehold over Africa. It has become essential that the it be asked what
has become of the national question as it was envisaged and also what
political path should be pursued?

The following views were advanced on the 17th February 2013.

Pan Africanism is in direct contradiction to capitalism (imperialism) and
white supremacy; thus Pan Africanism aims to overthrow white domination and
settler colonialism (and neo-colonialism) as manifestations of capitalism,
therefore Pan Africanism espoused by the PAC aims for total liberation and
unification of Africa on a socialist programme with the African workers and
peasants as the motive force to establish an Africanist Socialist Democracy,
through which an African Personality will be projected.

A contradicting perspective advanced was that Pan Africanism aims to unite
all African people irrespective of class position to reclaim and nationalise
land and other means of production this perspective reduces Pan Africanism
to be an extension of a national bourgeoisie democracy aspirations.

The third view is expressed in the Azanian Brief Edition 2 sub-titled The
Development of Pan Africanism questions the relevance of Pan Africanism, it
argues that "the instrinsic link between Pan Africanism and the model for
Africa's socio-economic development has not been properly explored." the
Azanian Brief further states that "Most scholarly works on Pan Africanism
have either welded it as a racial and/or ideological debates or labelled it
as a historical phenomenon that has outlived its usefulness" (2012, pg.
1-2).

The debate aims to comprehend ideologically the nature and character of the
party since the theoretical basis translates to party programme thus forms
the basis of unity of our party that then becomes "the attitude we take
towards the political line of the revolution. It manifests itself in our
ability to deal with the practical problems of leading the revolutionary
mass movement, as well as clarity in terms of the basic theoretical
positions of the movement", according to the Commissar's Field Manual (pg.
73). Party building and party political programme must take in consideration
the objective forces that give rise to historical development and social
contradictions within the country, Africa and internationally as we
determine the path to national self-determination and total liberation.

Comrades, who want to make additions can forward their proposals or
discussion documents to [email protected] or contact 074 922 6361.

Yours for seizure of state political power

Nkrumah Raymond Kgagudi

National Secretary
