Hi Kathy, As much as I know, the DM-10 is a DM-20 with just 64 megs of built-in memory, instead of the 128 megs, the DM-20 has.
With the DM-1, you cannot record in stereo. The DM-1 can only record in the DSS format, while the DM-20 can use DSS or WMA (Windows Media Audio). Note, that even the DM-20 isn't very good for music recordings, because the highest recordable frequency is 7500 Hertz. Olympus deliberately limited the frequency spectrum, to avoid problems with the music industry. The best stereo recorders are the already mentioned Minidisc business machines MZ-B100 and MZ-B10 and the Plextalk PTR1. Sanyo has a couple of conference recorders, which can record in MP3 stereo. They have the same frequency limitations as the Olympus recorders, but they're nevertheless interesting.
