Hi there, one way of doing this, would be: put the output of a stereo MP3 player, through a stereo mixer, and also your mike, and the output of the mixer to the line in on the computer. This way will let you keep the backup music, in stereo, and the mike can be added to both sides, and also let you hear what you are singing to at the same time. This is not the only, or maybe not the best way, but it is one way to do it. Hope this helps Ron
