Hi Ron, the cassette is just old, old old, 1982 I think or older. I'd like to get my cassettes on the computer before they deteriorate beyond recovery, but I'm in the midst of so many other things I don't think I've energy to learn a new program LOL. I've done one or two using cdex but it seems rather a complex time consuming business, or maybe I'm just impatient. I've version 5 of cdex I believe and I think for some reason the sound or something has been muted as before I could hear the casssette while I was recording from it using an earlier version but now I can't. To many parameters I suspect. Anyway thanks for the help with the program, yes I'll have to send him all my tapes and he can do the work LOL since I found him the info grin.
