Well my experience went the other way.
I had some vintage British comedy which I suspect was originally recorded on a machine that used inches per second. however by the time it came to me it had been transferred to mp3 via a machine which used metric (3 3/4 ips -v- 9.75 cps) which meant that it ran faster. Just had to play round with the pitch until I got it right. Fortunately I had some of the same show which I could use as comparison.
Cheers
Andrea

Hi Andréa. I had a show with Bob Hope, but he almost sounded like Donald Duck. Now I know he was quite a bit younger 60 years ago, but his voice wouldn't have changed that much. Loll.

In the pitching shifting it talks about notes. I have had success bu changing the pitch by entering 1 poositive or negative value in to this field. I mean to say there is a preset in there that talks of changing pitch by a fifth ie. 7 semi-tones. I had some OTR stuff that was running slow and was able to correct the problem by increasing the pitch 1 semi-tone at a time. It's a bit crazy when you are dealing with speech. But it works.

Subject: Pitch Shifting with Soundforge

Hi all. When I play a file in Soundforge, I'm trying to shift the pitch. I go to Effects and hit P for pitch. I press Enter on it. It gives me a choice to either bend or shift. I choose shift, but nothing happens. What else can I do. I have some old-time radio programs where the speed or pitch is set to high on some of these shows. How do I correct this?
