That doesn't make sense. After all, whether you plug a jack into your sound card or hook wires to a jumper on your sound card it is an analog signal you're dealing with and there is no benefit one way or the other.

Hi Nick. That makes sense, that you wouldn't hear as much background noise with a built-uin cassette player.

There is a benefit. If your are a high end audio person, you know that lining in a tape-deck to a sound card does give you a loss in sound quality, graininess, and even some buzzing called bus noise, not to be confused with the common 60 Hz hum. This unit probably attempts to allow you to record to and from the machine...directly, which may mean that the bus noise and other artifacts may be non-existent.

Yeah, I wonder how the developers of this device came to the conclusion that there would be a market for it. Anyone who has lots of tapes has a tape recorder, and anyone who doesn't have one won't have tapes

the thing is about this deck is that it's just a tape deck! you still have
to play the whole 90 mins of a cassette to get it on the hard drive! the
only real benefit over normal decks is that it's internal so you don't have
to fiddle with cables everytime you want to transfer tape to PC. is this
benefit really worth $150?
