Thanks for this info. But, I guess I'm a bit dense. I've seen all these controls but am not using them correctly. My sighted husband is just as confused. Do you somehow have to go to the control window, I guess? I was messing around with a file I opened up in Goldwave. I placed a bracket at the beginning of where I wanted to make a change and a bracket at what I thought was the end of shere I wanted to make a change. I was just running some sort of effect to see if I was marking my file correctly. When I planed back the file, I could hear where I had marked the beginning of the effect, but I couldn't seem to hear where the end was, which makes me think that for some odd reason I wasn't marking the end of that section of the file correctly. Is this making sense?

tired and still a bit dense

Subject: Okay, I give up! How do I get started with Goldwave

Hi, Gang! Well, I took some of yous guys's advice and downloaded the Goldwave shareware to make its acquaintance. Short of going over this manual about a hundred times, can somebody direct me as to how to navigate around and edit a file? I know how to record something but don't know how to stop the recording, and I don't know how to work with the file once I have it. With Soundforge and Studio recorder, I can start playing a file, stop and start it, select stuff using braces or the shift arrow keys, but that doesn't seem to work in Goldwave!

The manual seems to have some very nice tutorials but I can't seem to find
the very most basic information a totally blind person can use. Any help
would be greatly appreciated, or if there are some blind-friendly links,
manuals, etc., that would be great, too. I'm just totally bumfuzzled!
