Hi Folks, Around a year ago I had a conversation with the director of accessibility at Panasonic in regards to making their products more accessible. At that time the director invited blind persons to write with suggestions. It has been a year now so yesterday I wrote Panasonic to see if there had been any developments in regards to accessibility. The following is a letter I wrote Mr. Wegner and following that will be his response.
Please pass this on to anyone you might think would be interested. Thanks. Ray Slaton To: Wegner, Robert Subject: Accessible products Dear Mr. wegner, I talked to you about a year ago on the phone in which during our conversation you invited blind persons to write you and suggest ways in which Panasonic could make their products more accessible. I think you told me you heard from around 65 people with various suggestions. Just wondered if Panasonic has come out with or is planning to come out with a talking vcr or dvd unit? Thanks. Ray Slaton PS. Panasonic is to be commended on their work on making cordless telephones much more accessible than in previous times. Dear Mr. Slaton, Thank you very much for your message. Since our initial communication, over 140 persons have requested a talking DVD recorder / player. At current, we have a working concept unit which we showed to the NFB. The NFB was very optimistic about it. How ever, no plans exist at this time on making this in to a real product. My next battle is to convince our sales company, to request this type of talking unit from our design team. If you have any information, stating that this type of product could be sold with some respective quantities please pass them on to me.
