Tim, I think I gave you erroneous information earlier. I got thinking about it and went into the "add device" item in the Tools menu. There it indicates the all Ipods are Music Store ready i.e. without additional software or firmware. So it appears you may be able to delete your Itunes. You may want to double check my info though. I got it wrong once after all!
