I've started experimenting with FLAC, again. I'm getting much better sound
quality than I did the last time I tried using FLAC, several months ago.
Could this be because FLAC support is now integrated into Winamp; could the
fact that, previously, I had to install a separate FLAC plug-in in Winamp
explain the poor sound quality I got when I played .FLAC files, previously?

When I rip my CDs to .FLAC, using Easy CD-DA Extractor, I get to choose a
compression level, but not a sample rate or bit rate. I've noticed, though,
that all the files come out as 44khz (not surprising, but the bit rates vary
widely, between slightly over 400kbps and slightly over 900kbps. Can someone
explain this, please?

Thanks.

Blessed Be,

Dana
