It is interesting that a couple of list owners have chimed in, on this subject. Also, what about people's extensive footers, where they advertise the hell out of whatever it is that they are trying to promote? I think this is one of those things where it depends on one's level of expertise, on the computer, as to how one handles E mail, coming and going! Should we ask the other list owners to delete their tags, before making a decision, on what to do with this list, which, I may also add, has gone through a couple of owners, in the last couple of years?
Until we all learn how to filter messages, it is a moot point and those with that expertise ought to help others, without it, to get to that point, not just complain about the verbiage! I think the extensive footer verbiage is more of a problem, as it seems like "bill board clutter", which only some of us can even say that they have ever seen, say, walking down a street! Adrian Spratt has the right idea, which I, for one, will embrace. This is not one of those lists, to my way of thinking, where one can definitely say that one's level of expertise has to be such that a problem of this kind cannot be overcome, even though it takes a number of messages to get to a point, where the problem gets solved! Just look at the number of posts, on the subject, if you want to talk about verbiage! Put it to a vote, Tom! Since apparently no one else noticed or cared I removed it. Personally I like the list name in the subject line because it makes for easier filtering. If enough list members want it I'll put it in.
