Did you accedentally remove that preset? Sounds like it. Not sure of a fix for that besides maybe reinstalling goldwave.

In short, once I've set the correct marker position and then gone to the effects menu and then to Volume submenu and then to Fade in. In the preset menu there are a number of choices. After the default option there was Silence to full volume, Linear. Then Silence to full volume logarithmic. Now though after the Default option there is only the silence to full volume, logarithmic. I seem to have lost the Linear option. It still exists in the Fade out menu but not in the Fade in. What have I done wrong? Can I retrieve the situation or have I screwed up my Gold wave for good.
