FLAC and lossless WMA are both better formats than WAV for two reasons. Firstly, they are compressed without losing any of the musical content and so yield smaller file sizes for the same quality as WAV and secondly, they support ID3 tags.
I use lossless WMA rather than FLAC and believe you can broadcast in WMA but this is not an area I know much about so won't go any further.
