Yep that's a fair comment. Actually I just received my new headset a  
few minutes ago I'm quite impressed with hit, the microphone is (as  
you say) nothing startling, I mean you can certainly get better  
microphones but the audio through the headset is brilliant considering  
these things only cost $50.00.
