Treasure that old CCrane model -- I have one of those also in storage --
as I do with the now long gone Arkon Soundfeeder SF-120 (that's the
Soundfeeder model powered by a single AA battery with a detachable patch
cord and telescopic whip antenna).
I have been fortunate enough to find several of these over the years and
now treasure them and have even picked an extra 1 or 2 on Ebay.
My theory with an fm transmitter of this kind is that it needs to be
strong enough to cover the area I need but not powerful enough to have
anyone else pick it up or bbe bothered by it.
Yes, there are more powerful units than that original CCRANE and Arkon
SF-120; but they will fill the bill for the vast number of audio
transmission jobs most folks will need around the home.
