That was actually one of the things I suggested when I emailed the accessibility address at Apple, listed on the page talking about the improvements to iTunes and the Nano. In the response I got, they said the feature was new, and they were definitely looking for feedback and that they'd pass that tip along...In the meantime, they suggest just carrying less music with you and changing out your files often since, as they put it, "most people" don't use the larger-capacity players anyway...But they seemed to think it was a good idea. So, maybe next time arund.
I think I might pick up one of the 16GB units and give it a shot; see what they've done anyway. It's too bad the speech functions aren't backwards-compatible; I'd just install them on my 30GB IPod Video. :) ----- Original Message ----- From: Jonathan Mosen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: 'PC Audio Discussion List' <pc-audio@pc-audio.org> Sent: Wed, 10 Sep 2008 20:54:33 +0000 (UTC) Subject: RE: Itunes 8 now accessible The nanos go up to 16GB. I am really curious, given the technique they are using to do the speech, why it's not available on all the newer units including the hard drive-based players.
