From the things you explained, it sounds to me that the cd isn't properly
mixed, and there for, that is the reason why you can't hear all parts of the song how it is suppose to sound. To clarify that, try listening the same cd on differend sound systems and see if you get the same results. If the end results are the same than you can do a few of the things. First, if this is part of the songs which is just vocal parts singing, than you can make part of that song louder than the rest of it. On my CD of Pied Piper, by Chrispian St. Peters, the verses are much quieter than the chorus, which booms out.

Does any have any suggestions as to how I might be able to moderate the extremes?
