Portable speaker systems are one of those items which are terribly subjective,
there are very good and there are very bad.

As far as a portable solution goes I like my old and faithful Panasonic RXED50
power blaster connected up to an Ipod, computer, Iphone, Digital radio or
whatever and - in my opinion - even though this device is getting onto 10 years
old there ain't much around to beat it I'm afraid and that proves 2 things.
Yep, things are becoming cheaper and unfortunately quality isn't always getting
any better and secondly, "you's gets what you's pay's for", the RXED50 from
Panasonic is still Panasonic's flagship ghetto blaster but its not the cheapest
selling in Australia still for a RRP of $329.00 but its certainly the best
portable sound for its size I've heard.

I did a review on this item about 2 years ago for blind cool tech, should be
still in the archives but if it ain't then I can send it to anyone who is
interested, I wrote a review at one time for the pc-audio list as well and I
remember some of the list members did some research as to the availability of
this unit in the United States, it had to be imported from Canada but I'm sure
that some list members did look at or buy some of these units.

As for FM transmitters for an Ipod? My Sister got my old Ipod Nano machine and
she bought a FM transmitter which plugs into the dock for $5.00 so they're not
expensive.
