Dane Does the ipod have a line out socket or does it take the headphone sound and convert the impedence to line out?
If so then I would not consider it true line out as you still have all the noise from the headphone amplifier. Is there an ipod with a genuine line out socket on the market? The Iphone gives a good account of itself too! when compared to the Iriver. Haven't tried the Nokia N85 or compared it with anything yet but - if my Nokia N95 is any guide - then its not even in the race, convenient MP3 player perhaps but not great sound quality. The best sound quality I've ever got from a stand-alone MP3 player is from my all-singing all-dancing Pioneer DVD player I purchased 6 years ago and I paid an arm for at the time, $700.00 but of course that's not comparable to what we're discussing as you can't move it around <smile>.
