No I don't have any other sound card, just the original sb live and I
have that set for the output device. It's kind of baffling..
I do get other sounds like from K1000 and other sources like that.

and you play the sound does it play? If not press the browse button and
locate the sound you need. These are usually found under Windows Multi
Media. Once you've reset the sound check it again to make sure it's playing
then apply the changes once the sounds are all working and save your
scheme. You can give it any name you want such as djc's sounds. Hopefully
this will resolve this issue for you.
