Hi. Yes, when I got my PC it had the windows extraction tool already
installed. However I can't find an option on windows 7 to extract files.
In XP I merely highlight the file and go to the context menu (or the file
menue) and arrow down until I get the option "extract here" and once I press
enter the job is done. However I find nothing, well lets say, I can't find
anything that does a similar job. I know Windows 7 has ribbons and maybe
there is something there but I've not played with them yet. Walter.

I don't remember Windows XP having a built in extraction tool for .rar
file archives. I'm confused by your question on the .zip archives
though. I have to go check myself, but are you saying that the context
menu for a .zip archive in Windows 7 doesn't include options to extract
the archive? I wouldn't expect this to change much in Windows 7.
