speaking of VAC, I tried installing it on my new windows 7 machine here not
too long ago, but it seems to not work, I haven't installed it before so
that's kind of wierd. It worked on my old XP machine flawlessly. I don't
remember exactly the dialog thing, but I may try and paste it in here so you
get an idea of what's happening, maybe that will be helpful to all of you.

The audio repeat program is only one of the program in the Vac. The Vac
driver is the main thing you need to use to be honest.

output to vac cable, then in say total recorder you can choose to
record from the vac cable . As mentioned, it's not rocket science. The
limit on how to use this thing is your imagination. Also, the
stuttering does not happen if you set it up properly like adjusting
buffers etc. There is a userguide on how to do all this believe it or
not. The Vac cable is essentially a virtual sound card and in most
audio based programs it is seen as just another sound device.

in the podcast that some one posted they gave the impression that you
had to use the audio repeater.
can you give some examples in whitch the audio repeater would not
needed to be used?
the thing that I didn't perticularly like was the delay when using the
repeater feature, other then that vac was a good program but would
like to know some examples in whitch I wouldn't have to use the audio
repeater.

Also, it helps when you are trying to understand VAC (Virtual Audio
Cable) to think in simple terms. Don't over complicate what the
program can do. Vac is just that, a software cable or cables with

I found an interesting program/driver combination over on another
list.
It is basically a virtual audio card. It allows you to basically
do what Stereo Mix could offer in XP, but perhaps more. This is
especially useful for Vista and later users, or XP users whose
sound card does not support Stereo Mix. Free trial with "trial"
noise, whatever that is, added as part of the evaluation's
limitations, available at www.virtualaudiostreaming.net. The
program is called Virtual Audio Streaming.
