WMV is a proprietary MS format, so you may have trouble playing it on
Apple devices.

I don't use video so I can't really say which one is better for you. I
would assume most computers would be able to play .avi or .wmv files.
I found out that one of the files I tried to download was blocked. the
other link was for a folder. You can play videos from the folder but
can't save any of them.

First you must get the URL of the Youtube video you want. I have five
e-mails which each has one link to a video. I used the append to
clipboard to have all five links on my clipboard. If you are not
comfortable with this or don't know how to do this, you could open a
text editor and copy and paste each URL into the text editor. Here are
my links:

If you have them all on your clipboard you can go to your previously
opened Freemake Video Converter. If you copy them to a text editor
just select all and copy with control + c then tab to your previously
opened Freemake Video Converter.
Hit alt
Arrow over to edit
Paste will be the only item on that menu so hit enter. This pastes the
links into the program.
Hit alt
arrow over to convert menu
Down arrow to the format you want to save the file in. If you only
want the audio arrow down to mp3. If you want the video then choose
one of the video formats in the menu.
I have chosen mp3 so that is what I entered on in the convert menu
A dialog will come up. the first thing you hear is mp3 output parameters
Tab once and you will find a combo box and it will say custom.
Tab again and there is a button to create a preset. If you like to use
presets you can go through the dialog for each preset you wish to
create. but I don't use presets. I just edit the custom preset that is
there.
So I tab one more time to edit preset
Another dialog will open and you will hear mp3 preset editor
Tab once and you will hear custom which is what I use so tab again
Here is a combo box to choose the bit rate of your file. You can up
and down arrow through the combo box to find the bit rate you would
like. Youtube videos aren't usually that great so you don't need a
high bit rate. I will set mine at 128 kbps
Tab again and you can choose but I usually leave this at 44,100 hz
Tab again and there is a combo box where you can choose between mono
and stereo by arrowing up and down
the next time you tab jaws doesn't say anything so I don't know if
anything is there or not so tab once more to the OK button and hit enter.
You will end back at your original dialog at edit preset.
Tab again and there is a button to delete a preset so tab again
The next two tabs jaws speaks nothing so I don't know if anything is
there or not.
Tab to the button that says ... and hit enter
Another dialog will open up. This is a tree view just like My Computer
or Windows Explorer. so arrow through the tree view to find a folder
you would like your mp3 to end up in.
Once you have chosen a folder tab twice to the OK button and hit enter.
You will be returned to the top of the original dialog.
Tab all the way through the dialog. If you would like your files to
show up in iTunes then check the checkbox near the end of the dialog.
Check the box by hitting the spacebar.
Tab to the convert button and hit enter.
The program will let you know the percentage of the work that has been
done. When it is through a window will come up that says success. Hit
alt + f4 to close this window.
Tab to the program and it will also let you know the work is finished.
Hit alt + f4 to get back to the program.
when I checked the folder I saved the files into I found that it only
saved three out of the five files. so I will have to check the links
again and try to download the other two to make sure they are not
being blocked by Youtube. some files are blocked so they cannot be saved.
