i use ez audio converter for flac ripping and it works great.

Doesn't matter, FLAC files don't rely on bit rates.

I don't use the settings of Exact Audio Copy for FLAC generation, instead I 
use an external FLAC encoder and specify the commands for Exact Audio Copy 
to use, more flexible and far more straight forward.
