Yes, its the only Olympus where you can check the battery level and time and date. Its also suppose to speak the system info under the device menu. Yes they did discontinue it, but now they going to do new models wich one of them will be very similar. The dm7 will have daisy support, and more text files formats than the dm4. I don't no if the dm7 will be in the US, since models in the dm range differ from location, but there is also the dm901, wich will also have the diary and I hope to get it soon to see if it uses actual tts for its system speech.
