Saturday, February 15
---------------------
A cold front swept through early in the morning, leaving brisk, chilly
conditions (for St. Petersburg). Generally northwesterly winds, as low
as 10-12, but often gusting to 16-18, with relatively flat water. The
challenge was in correlating the velocity shifts with the directional
shifts, as the wind oscillated between 300 and 355 degrees!
Combining A and B divisions put 12 boats on the line. Races were W4's
and W5's, averaging 16-18 minutes in length. Nine races were sailed,
with one general recall, no breakdowns, no protests.
Very different forecast for tomorrow's three remaining races: light
northerly breeze dying completely by mid-day.
