Saturday, February 18Seven teams sailed in combined divisions, racing in unusual February conditions. A low level disturbance passed to the south of Tampa Bay, as a cold front lagged just to our north. The result was breeze ranging from 4 to 7 knots, with wind directions from the south, southwest, northwest, north, and then northeast, all in one day. Eight races sailed today, all WL-4, WL-5 or WL-6, averaging 15 minutes in length. While racing was at times slow-going, spectators were treated to an appearance by the high-energy USF mascot Rocky the Bull. Two protests filed, two DSQ's. Many thanks to coaches from Charleston, ODU, Eckerd, and Hawaii for hearing the protests. Host USF leads after day day one, followed by Charleston and Eckerd. Forecast for Sunday is for a sunny, warm day, with better winds in the morning, then decreasing. Top 5Visit http://scores.collegesailing.org/s17/usf-women/ for full results.
