The Peter Wenner Rainbow Invite is a fun, challenging college sailing event in one of the most unique and beautiful places in the world. In the memorable words of a great UH alumna and Olympian - *Hawai'i Rocks!* It's fantastic to see the interest we are receiving in getting invites to attend in January 2022!
As you are considering seeking an invite for the event, please keep in mind a few things: 1. Hawai'i is a long way from the mainland! It's absolutely worth the trip and the effort, but it will be critical to organize your team and travel as soon as you receive the invite. And if you get an invite then pull out last minute, it will be very hard to fill your berth, leaving an under-subscribed regatta (bummer). 2. Hawai'i can (*will*) be very windy. Conditions from the mid-teens to low-20s are likely, and it may be windier. Your team should be ready to sail FJs in these conditions! 3. Housing is not provided, so you will need to sort that out with your team. After considering the above, teams interested in receiving an invite to the Rainbow Invite should email the following information to Andy Johnson (UH Coach - copied here) and Blaine Pedlow (PCCSC Commissioner - me) before November 1, 2021. 1. Team Name 2. Conference 3. Team Contact - name, position (ie captain, coach, etc), email and phone 4. Are you requesting a Coed berth? 5. Are you requesting a Women's berth? 6. List the events your team has sailed/has scheduled in Fall 2021 7. Confirm that you understand the three points above. If you have already emailed your interest to Andy, it would still be a good idea to send an additional email with the above information. We will send out invites for the event shortly after November 1st.
