>hello i just bought a ppc 6360/160 after my p631CD died and i would like
>to know

>1. how big of a hard disk i could put in it

I don't think there is any limitation. I had a 15 gig that worked
easily. I'm not sure you will get the higher RPM's, so I don't know
if it is worth buying the 7200 RPM, as they cost more. But any
comments regarding this is welcomed, as I don't know for sure about
this. But imagine it to be true due to the older IDE controller it
has.

>2. is there anyway i could put a USB port in it

Yes but you only have one PCI slot in it. Personally, I think a video
card is something better to put in it but if you don't mind settling
for a smaller monitor. A 14in is about tops at thousands of colors.
But since they don't make any more Mac serial printers and if you
want to use a digital camera, it might be your choice. It's rough
only having 1 pci slot. It would be nice if you could upgrade the
VRAM. I know people like vintage Mac's but it will be harder and
harder to have them. Something like a 7600 or 7300 is nice since it
has more upgradabilitiy. I saw someone trying to sell a 7300 for
$100. I thought that an excellent price but shows the trends of
things to come. I see older Mac's just left on the road side to be
picked up. I, of course, picked them up. There were 4 Mac II of
various kinds with all kinds of cards and memory in them. They all
worked, except they needed batteries.

>3. is there a 57.7k limit on the serial port so external modem
>performace suffer

I had a 56k modem and it seemed to work pretty good. I was topping it
around 53k which is probably about the most you can get from it. I
think the internal modems are the ones that suffer performance. DSL
and cable modems work very well, if you get an CommII ethernet card.

Overall, the 6360 is a fairly capable machine. It was definitely a
better machine than those previous 603's. If you could have added
VRAM and it would take 128 DIMMS, I probably would still have it. I
had mine maxed out. It had just about everything you could add to it.
I had a L2 G3 Sonnet 300/512 but would definitely recommend the 1mb
cache. It would help it more. I think it needs it.
