I have a Practical Peripherals 14.4 modem that someone passed on to me. It
came minus the power brick. I want to test it, before I chuck it to the
electronics recyclers.
It says on the modem that it is "rated" for 9VDC 1000mA output. I have lots
of spare AC/DC converters, but none that fit that output spec exactly.
Forgive my ignorance of basic electronics, but what happens if I use it
with, say, a 9V 900mA brick? 2.8A? Risk of fire|shock|explosion|Kentucky
fried circuits? Is that spec min, max, or does it have to be exact?
