Hi Bill

The 9VDC is crucial to maintain. However you can use a higher rated mA
(ie greater than 1000mA). This mA rating tells you how much current the
modem draws at max. Supply it with 9VDC (this don't change) and 1000mA
or greater mA then you should be ok.
