In the 7500 board, this slot was used for a ROM module that came with
the main board in the early motherboards (the infamous VAL-4 ones). The
final revision boards, althought they were still marked VAL-4, had the
ROM soldered onto the mainboard and not slotted. I suspect, since the
7500 and 7600 are in the same family, this is also true for the 7600
mainboard.
