The rom slot in your computers are there for boot roms. The model that you
have has a boot rom solderd to the motherboard, the slot is only just incase
Apple wanted to put out an updated bot rom. Most people will never need to
use the slot but it is nice to know that it is there just incase by some
freak accident your boot rom gets fried in which case when you go to turn on
your computer, it will not boot up. You will get a black screen and no
happy mac, you may get a sad mac and the chimes of death but i doubt it.
