There *is* an anecdotal story about somehow getting 9500 ROMs and the 9500
video card, putting the video card in slot 1, and then installing MacOS to
an external SCSI over the rear SCSI-1 bus. Sounded like ia drag if it worked;
I have never had the nerve to try this on my ANS 500 (stockholm is a 500/200).
The ANS will run AIX, NetBSD (no internal video) and YDLinux. However, the
Linux install is tricky and does not boot directly from CD. NetBSD is an
easy install but has no internal video support yet. AIX is still the best
bet IMHO, and that's what I run.
The ANS is a fine machine. Mine has provided nearly four years of flawless
service and I expect it to do so until Y2038. :-)
