If money is no object I would get a new G4, unfortunately in my life money is
difficult to come by.
I also have external SCSI devices and a serial printer that I didn't want to have to
replace, so I got an XLR8 ZIF carrier card for my 7300 and put in a G3 350 ZIF from a
B&W G3 someone else pulled to upgrade to G4. It is running great at 400 MHz. Handles
my photoshop requirements great!
I think upgrading is cost effective IF you have a large amount of cash into the
computer peripherals. If you have just an old printer and the CPU I would suggest
going new and getting a photo quality printer to go with the new G4....
Just my small change (2¢) worth!
