Kyle still hasn't clarified his original assertion and I for one have no
idea what he is talking about. The monitor doesn't put any load on the
power supply (baring the newest displays and G4 computers). Depending on
the model, AC power coming in is either switched or fed directly to the
monitor plug. Switching is via a solid state relay. The only thing the
monitor could possibly strain is the solid state relay and since the
monitor is it's only reason for existing there is no reason not to use it.
I have used switched monitors on Macs since the IIsi and never had a
problem with them.
