Idling, HDs don't use much power. It's that initial spin-up that could kill
your power supply. And CD-Roms are worse, CD-RWs worse yet. If it starts to
whine when you turn the comptuer on, you're drawing too much power.
I've got an AMD Athlon 900 with 5 PCI cards and an AGP video card, a
DVD-ROM, a 4x4x16 CD-RW, a Zip drive, floppy, and 5 HDs. You should hear the
whining it does, on a 300 watt ATX power supply no less.
