Sorry, you can only boot from a firewire (external or internal) drive 
if firewire is built into your Mac.   The problem is that with PCI 
based firewire the built in firmware in your 7500 does not know how 
to initialize firewire and communicate with the drive.   Firewire is 
initialized by the FW extensions during the OS boot.
