Upgradability-Beige G3. Best price:performance and usability ratio-PM
9500
> Also, can you use the same memory in the beige G3's that's used in
the 8500,
> 8600 and 9600 models.
No. x500 and x600 use EDO or FPM DIMMs. Beige G3 and up use SDRAM of
various speeds (Beige is PC66 or better).

Get a PowerMac 9500. You can use the RAM and G3 upgrade from your 8500
in the 9500, and you can run OS X on it without problems, except for
the floppy drive. And note that the Beige G3s don't support their
floppy drives in OS X either.
Just on a side note, I've got a 9500 that I got from Kyle Hansen, with
256MB RAM interleaved, a G3 400 1MB running at 464/232 on a 58MHz bus.
It's got a Teac 32x CDROM, 9GB 7200RPM Quantum HD, USB card, and ATi
Rage Orion. It's as fast as my friends B&W G3 400. :-)
