Unfortunately the "light" you saw is now partially owned by Microsnuff.
Both platforms have their strengths. I use my PC for networking and 
database design
and use the Mac for audio editing and graphic design.
Apple plain screwed up with their marketing and that handed the 
advantage on a silver platter to Gates who ate it up as fast as he 
could.
If I could get by with it I wouldn't own PC but since clients have 
them and not Macs, I have to as well.

While it's disheartening and perhaps to some infuriating Microsoft 
took teh GUI and mouse idea from Apple, you have to remember that 
Apple took those from someone else (they just perfected it).
The whites took the land from the natives (who had it first) but 
nothing has changed regarding that fact either.  The best we can do 
is keep buying Macs and supporting the application developers (by 
registering shareware) and hang on to the niche we have now.
