I posted this message 2 weeks ago, for those who missed it, here it is
again.
I recently converted a old 9500/132 into a MP3 server, I installed a 80GB
IDE Western Digital HD and a VST IDE/66 PCI card. It suffered badly from the
audio stutter, after a lot of research I moved the IDE card to the bottom
slot (6) and reduced the Disk cache to 512k. It has been flawless over the
last two weeks.
Ram isn't really an issue, I have only got 96MB installed with system 9.1
running and iTunes is my choice of software, from what I have learned MP3
programs only utilize 6-8MB of ram. Check out the forums and archives at
www.XLR8yourmac.com for more indepth information. Hope this has been of some
help.
Hope this helps.
