The 6400 is slightly limited as per the RAM issue, also it only has a 40 MHz
bus, along with it's only having 2 PCI slots (I use a COMM II ethernet card for
networking, saving PCI slots for other things), but it is also a capable
machine. Be forewarned if you max. the machine out you will want to watch the
processor temp as it's really crowded in there and they do not move air through
them well so the tend to run on the warm side.

I am not doing any video work on mine (yet), but at some point I do want to make
use of the Avid cinema video card that came with my used 6400. So far I have not
run into any problems having only 136 MB of RAM, but I do not run a ton of
applications at the same time. I use it mostly on the web and for some light
Photoshop work.

If you were going to go out and buy a machine I would recommend a 7500 to
upgrade as the G3 upgrades cost a great deal less than the L2 G3 upgrades for a
6400, but for free it should do a fair job with an older camcorder. Of course if
you are wanting to digital video you will need firewire and a DV camcorder.

You could always sell it and get a 75/7600 and upgrade it to G3 and load it up
with RAM.
