There it went again. At the stroke of midnight, the computer
(7500/132 80MB 3GB OS8.1) froze up completely (except the mouse).

Cmd-power to invoke my newly acquired copy of MacsBug. It said to do
a StdLog, which I did. It flung a few pages worth of stuff onto the
screen, and said I needed to provide a path. I did StdLog again, but
with a path. It replies with something along the lines of "Cannot
create log. File system busy, try again later." Grr. Tried to "es"
the computer back to life a few times, no go. Did an "rs". Launched
all "zig". Err, sorry. :)

A few days ago, I did a Disk First Aid with odd results. Tried it off
the HD and off the CD, same result. Result follows:
-----
Checking disk "Tempest".
Checking disk volume.
Checking "HFS Plus" volume structures.
Checking for locked volume name.
Problem: Directory name locked, 4, 609
Checking extent BTree.
Checking extent file.
Checking catalog BTree.
Problem: Invalid BTree Header, 0, 0
Checking catalog file.
Problem: MountCheck found minor errors.
Checking catalog hierarchy.
Cannot continue. An internal error has occurred.
-----

Also, I am now 90% sure that this isn't related to Outlook Express. I
switched to Eudora a few days ago, so OE wasn't open at the time of
the crash. Internet Explorer is still under suspicion though.

I don't have (nor can afford at the current time) DiskWarrior or Norton.

Does anyone have any ideas? This is getting annoying.

Thanks.
