Pat, I'm not sure if the 800 is similar to the color stylus 400, but on the
400, there is a black plastic mechanism that the ink cartridges sit in. This
mechanism has the print head in it.
This is not for the timid, but you can remove that print head and actually
immerse it in distilled water (circuitry and all!) for several hours. Then,
buy a syringe (don't use the metal needle part - just the plastic) and
squirt distilled water or some alcohol through the posts the cartridges sit
on. While doing this you can observe which inkjets the water comes out of
(and doesn't come out of) and then apply water with the syringe over the
actual inkjet itself (the part where the ink comes out)
You have to keep working at it until all the jets are squirting properly.
Sometimes I've taken 2 hours on this procedure. If you are careful and
persistent, you will get the printhead flowing properly.I have rejuvenated
my epson several times after the printhead has completely dried out.
Vital to remember that you have to let it dry out properly before putting it
back in the printer as it has circuitry on it that you have immersed.
As I said, you should feel confident in your ability to do this before
attempting it. There are much better instructions on the net as well. Just
do a google search on epson+unclog+printhead and you should be able to find
it.
